The inductor holder keeps the heating head in a fixed position relative to the workpiece. It therefore sets the distance between coil and part, and that distance decides how much energy arrives. Selection follows the heating head and the mounting situation at the workstation.

It is the condition for temperature control to take effect at all. Without a fixed position the controller works against a disturbance that changes with every part.
The position has to be locked after alignment, otherwise it drifts in operation. The workpiece needs a fixture that positions it just as repeatably. And the heating head should be exchangeable without losing the alignment.
Between inductor and workpiece the energy transfers through the magnetic field. An inductor held by hand delivers a different result on every part, even when generator and time stay unchanged. The holder turns this variable into a fixed one.
