Static mixing nozzles bring the two components of a 2K system together and mix them on the way to the outlet, without moving parts. They are single use: once the material inside has set, the nozzle is spent. Selection follows design, diameter and number of mixing elements.

After a stop longer than the pot life the nozzle is replaced rather than flushed. Switching to a different design also changes the mixing result, even when unit and mixing ratio stay the same.
Inside the nozzle sits a row of fixed elements that split the material flow, deflect it and bring it back together. With every element the number of layers doubles. Mixing therefore comes from the flow itself, without a drive and without cleaning.
Too few elements mix incompletely and curing fails in places. More elements cost pressure and increase the amount of material left in the nozzle. The number therefore belongs to the formulation and is not chosen freely.
