Fine filters
Fine filters hold back particles from the compressed air before they reach the dispensing system. They sit in the air supply ahead of unit and valve and protect sealing faces, valve seats and narrow cross sections. Selection follows filtration grade, flow rate and fitting.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. The filtration rating determines which particles are retained. At the same time, every filter causes a pressure drop that increases with flow rate and contamination level. A filter that is too fine can reduce the pressure available at the consumer when air demand is high.
The replacement interval depends on the maintenance schedule, the level of contamination and the filter manufacturer’s specifications. As contamination increases, the pressure drop across the filter also rises. The filter should therefore be checked regularly and replaced in good time.
Compressed air from the plant air supply can contain contaminants such as particles, moisture or oil. These can affect narrow passages, valve seats and sealing surfaces. If particles enter a valve seat, the valve may no longer close completely. One possible consequence is dripping.
