Pistons
The piston sits on the medium and transfers the air pressure without letting air into the material. Its shape has a say in how much material is left in the cartridge at the end. It is selected by cartridge size and by compatibility with the medium.
Frequently Asked Questions
It separates compressed air from the medium. Without it the air presses straight onto the material, works its way past along the wall and reaches the dispensing point. The result is bubbles in the deposit and a shot size that varies.
Because the underside of the piston and the inner shape of the cartridge tip do not match. A shape that follows the tip reduces the remainder. With expensive media that detail is worth looking at, with cheap ones rarely.
