Adapter heads
The adapter head sits on the rear end of the cartridge, seals against its rim and leads the compressed air onto the piston. Its sealing face is loaded with every cartridge change, which makes it the point where an adapter leaks first. Selection follows cartridge size.

No. The head seals against the rim of the cartridge and is therefore tied to its diameter. When the cartridge size changes, the head is swapped, tubing and connector stay.
Pressure builds more slowly, the shot size falls off over the shift and air is audible at the cartridge rim. Raising the pressure in that state hides the fault and wears the seal out faster.
