The pre-assembled hose insert is the replaceable media-contacting part in the pinch valve. The valve compresses the hose so that the medium comes into contact only with the hose and not with any moving seals. The appropriate insert is selected according to inner diameter, material and service life.

Pressure is lost between container and valve, depending on inner diameter and length. A line that is too long or too narrow delays the pressure build-up and makes short dispensing times unusable.
The pressure drop rises and the flow takes longer to become stable. Both are compensated through the inner diameter and the setting on the unit. There is also more medium standing in the line, which matters with a limited pot life.
The medium. What counts is chemical resistance, permeability to moisture and oxygen, and whether the material sticks to the tubing. The data for that is in the technical data sheet of the chemistry.
Everything standing in the line stays in the system at a media change and has to be flushed out. With expensive media that is a cost, with reactive media a risk, because the standing material reacts first.
The path of the medium runs through a single part. There is no moving seal in the medium, no gap and no dead space where material stands still. When the medium changes, the insert is swapped instead of stripping the valve.
When the shot size drops at unchanged settings or the valve no longer closes cleanly. The hose fatigues at the pinch point, which is inherent to the design and not a defect. Service life depends on cycle count, medium and pressure.
On an interval, not on failure. The elastomer is deformed on every cycle and fatigues. A rupture during operation carries the medium into the mechanics.
